The School of Governance (ESG) is an academic unit of Joaquim Chissano University (UJC), established by Resolution No. 2/CU-UJC/2019 of November 26 by the University Council. It has pedagogical and scientific autonomy in relation to the programmes it offers, as well as administrative, patrimonial and financial management autonomy regarding allocated resources within legal limits. ESG also enjoys regulatory and disciplinary autonomy within legal limits.

To train, research, document and disseminate relevant information in governance areas, namely public administration, public policy, political science and other fields associated with the State, while developing critical and reflective attitudes for good governance and sustainable development.
The School of Governance is guided by UJC’s legal and statutory principles, namely democracy and respect for human rights, equality, equity and non-discrimination, as well as freedom of cultural, artistic, scientific and technological creation. With the ambition of becoming a benchmark institution in governance, ESG invests in training, research, documentation and dissemination of relevant knowledge in public administration, public policy and political science. Within this framework, ESG offers a range of short courses focused on practical skills.
